PROVINCE OF KOMPONG CHAM

INTRODUCTION
The province of Kompong Cham, one of the most populous in Cambdoge with almost 1,890,000 inhabitants, covers an area of ​​9,800 km². Bordered by the provinces of Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kandal, Kompong Chhnang, Kompong Thom and Kratie, it shares a border with Vietnam to the east.
The province is divided into 17 districts:
 
- Batheay - Prey Chhor - Memot
- Cheung Prey - Steung Trang - Ponhea Kraek
- Kompong Cham - Chamkar Leu - Srey Santhor
- Kang Meas - Dambae - Suong
- Krouch Chhmar - Kompong Siem - Tboung Khmom
- Or Reang Ov - Kaoh Soutin

The eponymous prefecture, Kompong Cham, on the edge of the Mekong, was formerly called Kompong Rong Chamm, the town or place of embarkation where the Chams came to accompany their relatives for a departure by boat.
As its name suggests, Kompong Cham is home to a large minority of Chams, otherwise known as Khmer Islam, represented by nearly 118,000 people in 2010 across the province.
A little less than 25% of households are connected to the electricity network, 66% use batteries for lighting.

Phnom Han Chey:

About twenty km from Kompong Cham, Phnom Han Chey, also called Phnom Chey Kiri, offers a very nice view of the banks of the Mekong. The top of the hill houses a Buddhist center, a pagoda and the brick Kuk temple. A female gibbon has taken up residence in one of the central trees.

Horng waterfall:

Located in a mountainous and forested area of ​​the Dambae district, about 80 km from Kompong Cham, the Horng waterfall is a pleasant place to picnic and swim, made possible by the large pool formed by the waterfalls at the foot of the waterfall.

Rubber tree plantations:
The province of Kompong Cham is the province with the most rubber plantations, covering an area of ​​approximately 60,000 hectares. You can visit most of these plantations, and learn more about the cultivation and harvesting of the famous sap that produces rubber.
